Hey all
First off im trying to change the spark plugs on my 8v k-jet. The problem im having is all the plugs iv tried (from halfords and now eurocarparts) dont seem to fit into my ht leads. Has anyone else found this? Iv took a few pics of the plugs and the ht lead.

Second question is iv took some videos of my gti running. To me it sounds very lumpy and has done since i bought it is this normal? I know its a 8v so wont run as smooth as a 16v. iv also got a tappy noise from the engine and also another noise which you can hear in the video. think its from the alternator area

Why the two last videos are green i dont know?

LOL the new plugs have caps on them twist them off so there are bare threads on them LOL!!!
The alternator bearings on the shaft might be a tad worn take off and replace simple job
Tappits well if you aren't smoking 1000 fags at the back then try changing the oil the tappits are worn nothing you can do about it, unless you take the head off for inspection and replace worn tappits?
-
Serious? I tried that and they wouldnt budge. Didnt want to break them. Now i feel like a tit lol! Also just changed the oil. Its just clear smoke out the back, Like u get on a cold day but it hasnt run in 2 years. Maybe new plugs will help lol

Just fit them :) doesnt seem to smoke now so all good. What involved with this alternator job then?
-
LOL sorry you made my day!
take off alternator strip it down need a bearing pully to pull them off but get the parts first they are simple bearings from memory you need two of them, one at the top of the shaft and one at the bottom. But take it off and see if you can hear friction from the alternator by spinning by hand it should be smooth and not noisy!
Failing that send it off to a refurb company they might lighten your wallet of about £40-£50 for the previlage and change bushes as its off anyways.

Lol yh i thought i might. ok ill look into it. Im sure its from that area. Like a grinding noise.
