Nige, best stick Windoze back on your Mac - it'll be safer

Yup it was predictable really. And the ironic thing is that the majority of mac users are too deluded to think they are at risk.

Oh no! Viruses for Mac....The time of Mac being "un-touchable" is long over you should know this Jay.
I recommend,

I know malware has been around for yonks on Mac's, be it commercial or underground stuff. It's the scale of this one that's astounding.
I would recommend removing Java and any other 3rd party plugin's all together, unless you absolutely do need it - this goes for Windows and OS X users.

Read about this the other day wondered how long it would be before it appeared on here, any Mac user with common sense has anti virus software nowadays

 very funny
I have had anti virus software since I moved to intel Macs from my power pc G5, with Macs now sharing the same chips it was only a matter of time before viruses became an issue. I know it's not just down to the intel components but I personally have had more issue win my Intel Mac than I have with any of the Macs I have had in the past.
I still wouldn't want a Windows PC though
