Title: Bike racks
Post by: Mikehamid on 10 April 2012, 09:20
Hey guys, I'm after a bike rack for when I travel around the country in the summer and was wondering if anyone recommends them from anywhere. I have no idea about them, but so far have worked out that I want one of the high mounted ones. How much ideally should I spend on a reliable one?

Thanks

Thule bike racks seem to be good quality and not over expensive (unless you get a tow bar mounted one)

That's the one to get. Halfrauds do a good price on them.

+1

I've got the Thule proride, quality bit of kit, reassuring that your bikes held inplace properly and you're ready to ride in seconds.

If I'm going for a long drive, then In the boot.

I hate the idea of putting a bike on my roof.  I can see it falling of and smashing into the car.  I'd me much happier having the bike strapped to the rear instead.

Wish I'd got a pic the other day, bike upside down on the Skoda, two big yellow straps through the door shut wrapped round the roof.

Got some looks, straps making a right racket, got pulled up, asked him to try and get the bike to move, was solid so he was satisfied, laughed and let me on my way.

At destination, boot the big dent out the roof.
