Why not get an alloy one linky (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK4-1-8T-20V-Turbo-Uprated-Side-Mount-Alloy-Intercooler-100mm-core-depth-/400290122457?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf&hash=item5d33268ad9)

In answer to the question, either will fit :afro:

If you went 130 route you would need different pipework and connectors as they are bayonet fit and larger diameter, the 1.8T have larger diameter pipes but you could use a reducer to couple to your pipework.

only reason i say 130 model is been offered one cheap and my intercooler is leaking how many different connectors would i need i just dont want to start the job with out the right connectors and reducers an then have my car stood for ages mate so if i went down the alloy route smic what extra would i need to make it fit and same question for the 130 smic what extras would i need to make this fit

Sorry can't help much there as I have a 130 so I don't know the diameters of your current connectors but if they are none bayont type you should just need some silicone reducers and clamps to fit the alloy \ 1.8T IC and maybe a different MAP sensor depending on the diameter of yours.

If you went stock 130 route you would need a different pancake pipe, small pipe from that to the IC, and then the pipework from the EGR down to the IC - this can be the expensive option and not too reliable due to the bayonet connections  :undecided:

right so looking at this then neil i am best going down alloy route then unless i can find a 115 bhp ic cheap

so for a alloy smic i need some silcone reducers, would i need some sort of union to connect the reducer to my exsiting pipe work neil

If you connectors are push fit like on the new IC all you should need is a couple of 57mm (alloy IC port diameter) to whatever diameter your pipework is and a couple of jubilee clamps \ mikalor clamps on each connection.

Have a read of page 11 and 12 here (http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/220707.aspx?PageIndex=11) for some pics off my install

I think you IC will be like this without bayonet connectors

Have you also looked at a replacement from Euro Car parts, not 100% this (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_1.9_2000/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/cooling/intercooler/?229440030&1&c7e58381a306caf0248d34eed45d422bd435a92b&000207) is the one but if it is then you are looking at £88.69 for a direct replacement with forum discount (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?board=101.0) :afro:

Silicone connectors can be had from ebay but you may be better going the direct replacement route as it is two or three bolts and two clamps once the bumper is off :afro:

yeh mine does look like that neil, will a standard replacemnt handle a remap from r tech and if it direct replacment i wont need any seprate joiners or anything will it will be just a case of bolt it straight in apart from some new clamps

It should be fine with a standard remap I'd have thought and should just be a straight swap, it will be the cheapest option as with the alloy route you would be looking at £160-ish I'd say by the time you have bought the extra bits and iff you go down the egr delete route you would have that on top as well

If you are not sure  give Nick a bell and have a chat about it, he will give you good advice :afro:
