Title: Hand brake Mk1

Anyone had any problems with the mounting of the handbrake?

Mines bent outwards and it doesnt lock up/down properly.

yep.

Mine was all wonky, the its pivot rod thing had come out.  I chucked away the stupid metal clips, and whacked a bolt with spcer washers though the hole in it.  Works a treat now.

Yeah, that sounds like what has happened. Those metal clips can come adrift. Probably needs the bush pushed back through the flange and a clip put back on........or you could try something more substantial as ManicGTI has suggested.
