Title: Little Red Rooster
Post by: roscored on 09 April 2012, 04:34
Hey, it's introduction time.

Maybe not the usual way to introduce yourself but I've always been Honda in the past.
Currently got a Gen 5 Honda Prelude VTI. Swapped the engine and box out from the std 2.2VTEC to the Accord Type R and lsd.
Add on some TEINs, AEM V2, and all that jazz and you've got some fun after 5400 revs.
Added a pic for the h3ll of it. Will be keeping it.

However...now to the point of the intro...1st venture into a GTI and collecting my Mark 5 Red GTI this Thursday.
40k on the clock, full VW hist, and more importantly been well looked after by someone who gives a damn.

Adding some pics of the car, but will start a thread once I collect it.

When it came to my personal prefs on the options:

- low mileage and std as poss
- Manual (always have to - although DSG did sound tempting)
- 18' Detroit alloys
- Xenon
- RNS 310/510 Navigation (for style not substance)
- and tbh everything else was a bonus for me

1st job is the alloys. Almost new condition and look great on the car but IMO Red on Black is an awesome colour choice for the GTI.
Always thought it would be matt black detroits with colour coded (Red) lip - but after seeing the car I think black-chrome with the red lip will look better - I would welcome your opinions on this?

Next is a visit to JD Engineering for a remap. They're quoting figures of 245bp & 350Nm for a basic chiptune - I'll obviously want some advice/experience on this (sounds like science fiction!) and a lot more, but this is neither the time nor place.

The interested amongst you will have noticed the choice of tuner or reg...not a UK car...I'm orig from Scotland but currently living in Holland. Dont let this put you off, just means a future meet could be in the 'Dam...judging by my test drive and experience of Amsterdam I'm thinking this might not be such an issue. ;-)

Take it easy,
Rosco
