i know they are sh.ite on fuel and its not going to be a problem but just want an idea i know the book says 28mpg....
it cant be as bad my old slightly tweaked  200sx S13 I had in 2006 198miles to £50 worth of petrol

Easily done
Average driving for me id say its about £10 a day fuel
I once made £40 last from a sunday to sunday but never again lol, boooooooooring
-
how much fills the tank on a VR6? when i start my new job i'll be doing roughly 30/35miles a day
-
65-70 quid
-
My mk2 VR was doing around 25mpg average (28 with long runs). This was based over a whole tank, calculated using the old fashioned method!
A tank would go 230 miles approx.
Compared to our mk3 1.8 which gets 38 mpg and 380 miles to a tank
-
With power comes responsibility.

Bloody hell! I'm lucky to get that out of a KR! I really need a VR in my life now.

About 100 miles from £20 so that seem about right
-
To be fair that's not to bad  just going to have to fight the urge of wanting plant the loud pedal all the time and after having an Eco friendly 1.6tdci focus for the last 2 years it might prove difficult lol
-
my zs does 20 miles to £15
i bought the wrong car...

Going from a diesel focus to a VR is going to be wallet lightening in more ways than one..
-
good luck, I think you are going to need it, and a BIG wallet
-
Lol the focus is the 1st economical car I've ever owned my s13 200sx was a money pit with bottom ends going left right and centre plus fuel is was shocking, but before that there was 3 R5 GTTurbos then a S2 Rsturbo Subaru legacy Rs oh and a *coughs*2.4 frontera don't ask why!! Oh and a little stint with a BMW540......so I can't see it being much worse than the above.....
-
Its very liveable when driving in eco mode but thats not why you drive a vr now is it
Im only taking it easy for a few miles because of a top end rebuild but after say 100 miles its bouncing off the limiter again
-
These threads are telling me to sell the ABF and get a VR6. Weekend use.
The ABF is fun on the lanes here. The lag is a bit VTec IMO though.

Whats ABF? Forgive me I'm not yet up to speed yet :-)
-
Abf is engine code. It's a 2.0 16v
-
My corrado VR6 averaged 29mpg over the winter, last summer i averaged about 31!
Il get 35/36 on a long run, but short runs around town it wont get over 20.
-
hang on, I've just sold my mk3 gti 8v because on average i'd get 28 mpg if I drove like my grandma, best I ever had was sat at 60 on the motorway and got 38mpg
I buy the wrong cars
-
Dont believe the MFA, it lies! Work it out over a tankful.

/indeed
Although at least a quarter of my tank goes through the exhaust just to pop and grumble
-
As said I get about 250-300, however the needle lies slightly too. When I refill when I think I'm running on fumes, I can only ever manage to put about 45 litres in, so apparently I've still got 10 litres of fuel/21 year old sludge in the tank.

agreed not sure why you would want one as a daily driver :undecided:
-
I use mine daily, do about 45-50 miles a day Monday to Friday round trip to work. Cost me £40-£50 quid...
-
I'm pretty sure i'm getting more than 28mpg in my 8v and i rag it everywhere..
-
Use mine daily, average 90 miles a week and it costs me about £20-£25, I do have rather a heavy boot :lipsrsealed:
Mine averages 20-25 miles to the gallon, 30 on the M roads if i'm lucky
I will say, if you are bothered about mpg, dont get a VR
-
Mine was doing about 18mpg when I was driving it. Just fun town driving  I have a diesel van for work.
-
I currently have a 2L 16v and have just purchased a VR6. I won't be using it daily but long journeys once a month. I'll be happy with 25 mpg's lol. I get 44 out of the ABF if I drive nice but as these chaps stated, that's boring!!!
-
i have an abf,
i can roughly sqeexe £57-60 in it by filling up the filler neck, I do 350 miles a week and a whole tank will last me average of 320 miles,
so roughly
42.8 litres = 9.4 gallons
320 / 9.4 = 34 mpg,
my daily run includes some town, an A road blat, then a long twisty B road, most days i drive average but then there are the days when i like to give a boot full & will see as low as 22mpg
i have got the on board readout to get to 40mpg but with the calculatore its only ever 37-38mpg....
-
I've got a V5, but in a Passat B5.5 so heavier than a Golf3 and thirsty as a Fish  It LOVES Premium unleaded, if you can live with 25-30mpg on a commute go for it!

There isn't a hope of getting 500 miles plus out of an abf, can't believe your getting 44mpg...
I've gotten the maf to show 44 but over a tank the best I've ever managed over a tank is 360 at a major push...90% of the time I used to get 330 to a tank...I'd imagine the vr would realistically return 20-25 over the course of a year...ud have some good and some bad weeks

Mine is a Cordoba so only has a 45L tank. Drive to Newcastle and back which equates to 860 miles and still had about 10L left in the tank. Works out to be approx 45mpg. They'll do it on a constant run if driven well.

860 miles from a tank? 112 odd MPG.

still dont think so.....doesnt add up

I think he means 10L left from 2 tanks, although a 45L tank at 44mpg would be about 440 miles, so would use 2 full tanks to do 860 miles.

ABF in a mk2 will do over 40 mpg quite easy
a few years ago i filled my mk2 in filton bristol when heading out to the ring toped up in belgum and again near the ring ( only because the gadgue lied like a cheep rug ) the to topups were less than a tank
thats 420 miles ish on less than 55 ltrs
on the way back i left with a full tank stoped off to see a friend somewhere along the a12 somwhere after clemsford, wasent far off the m42 when fuel was required work that out but it over 400 miles and we were seriously stamping on for a large chunk of the journy as we thought we'd got the ferry times wrong and were going to be an hour late it, manage to make it then realised we had an hour wait oops

I stand corrected so....Had two abf's and they were very similar....driving a 1.4l focus at the mo while my Leon is in the garage and that averages 34mpg...

Ive got the old girl on the road now  gotta say it's not to bad on fuel to be honest when doing a run but doing the commute to where I work at the min absolutely eats the fuel as its only 2.5mile round trip but I start my new job a week today so no more short stints lol
But the heated seats won't be used and the climate control is allways set to econ lol
