Hi All,
I'm new to this site ( but highly recommended by my brother) - I'm calling all Techno wizards :-
Can anyone advise me what is the type/config suspension for the Golf GTI Mk4, Mk5 and Mk6 and what if any are the main differences/improvements between the three?
Many Thanks
Jo

Mk4:
McPherson strut front, with anti roll bar, twist beam rear end with inbuilt anti roll bar - woefully under-damped
Mk5:
McPherson strut front, with anti roll bar, independant rear suspension with independant anti roll bar - properly damped and a complete revelation in ride and handling compared to the Mk4.
Mk6:
Basically the same as the Mk5, with slight differences to front castor I believe.
McPherson strut front, with anti roll bar, independant rear suspension with independant anti roll bar - tweaked handling over the Mk6.
Also available with 'ACC' electronic continually adjusting dampers with 3 base settings - normal, sport ans comfort.
This applies to GTIs/FWD Golfs.
The Mk4 4WD cars has independant rear suspension to allow the use of the Haldex rear end. The hendlinh was vastly better then the standard Mk4, but nowhere near the Mk5/Mk6.
