I am getting a bit of uneven tyre wear issues...and have been advised by my local stealer to have my wheels aligned...at a cost of £180...!!!
Wasn't overly confident of his knowledge...hence asking the questions here.
I believe that there are two issues...(1) toe-in/toe-out...and (2) positive/negative camber.
Which wheels can be adjusted for what...?
One local tyre fitting company has told me that only the front wheels can be adjusted for positive/negative camber.
Another has said that only the front wheels can be adjusted for toe-in/toe-out.
Getting a little bit confused.
Any definitive knowledge/experience greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Billy

I just had mine done today at a place called STS, so far as i am aware, the mk5 wheels are all adjustable for toe in / out and camber.
It was £30 for front toe in / toe out for front, same for the back (so £60 in total)
An additional £30 for camber, or the lot for £80
Not sure if they're national or not, but should give you an idea

Thanks for the reply mags.
Freaky timing as I just got a Four Wheel Alignment done yesterday at my local stealers...all wheels can be adjusted for all sorts of measurements...toe, camber, caster...only needed one small toe adjustment on front near side.
Stealer wanted £200 when I first asked got them to quote...however, work was done against a VW goodwill claim.

Is this the 'level' of wheel 'checking' that people say should be done after messing with suspension like putting on coiles etc?

pretty much yeah. every car that gets lowered in our workshop goes on that machine.
