Title: How to de-adjust Polo brake shoes
Post by: Dolly on 06 April 2012, 14:28
Right im doing rear brakes on a 94 ibiza (polo) ive got the new shows and cylinder fitted and new bearings in the drum, but now the drum is too tight on the shoes i have to tap it on with a tapping stick (hammer). Needless to say it doesnt spin at all. so i prized it back off with some screw drivers, any ideas on how to adjust the shoes inwards abit?

Ive slackend the 10mm's right off at the handbrake inside the car.

im abit stuck

seemed to sort it with abit of tapping and the small vertical arm on the spring had something to do with it. Only thing now the pedal seems hard straight away so not sure if the shoes are too close to the drum, the spin freely enough and the hand brake holds so ill just go for a drive and see what happens
