Hi my car will need a cluth very soon i've beem qouted £271 all inc vat!
Is this right?
the car is a 1995 golf gti 8v 64000m
Advice on this please.

Was that just the clutch? or fitting as well?
I had mine done at Mr Clutch, just around £200
(But they did cause a few other problems which they fixed at their own cost)

Hi thanks yes it includes the fitting as well.

seems like an alrite price with fitting. Have had cheaper quotes before though. Clutches dont cost that much. Best to buy a new clutch kit yourself and get that fitted. might work out cheaper

£200 sounds ok if its a genuine clutch from vw they can set you back between 100-150 depending on where you get it, £271 is probably heading towards steep but if its a good job and they gaurentee it i wouldnt argue.

Paid £190 inc VAT at a local clutch specialist, using Sachs parts. Didn't need to replace the gearbox seals, but very happy with the job. Another VW specialist quoted me £290. No probs with the lower price, though, and done 10,000 miles since.
