I would not worry what that other tuner told you yesterday, we called them posing as a customer wanting a remap and there power claims where a little high and claimed boost to be a little over 1 bar.  We are giving you realistic peak numbers not sales numbers.  Some mapped cars feel faster as they have induced boost spikes, you should have a little over shoot on the inital spool up, but if you have a weak actuator or, a D revision valve with a worn plastic O ring then you might not get the over shoot.

Safe boost for stage1 with the stock cats is around 1 / 1.1bar with around 0.2bar over shoot in the midrange.

These sort of boost number will give realistic power of  around 250-260lbft and 230-238bhp on a good running engine.   To get a realistic idea of what power these Mk5s run from stage 1 tuning have a good read here http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/GalleryRollingroad.htm
Just dont fall for the sales BS numbers.

To extract more power and be safe you will need to do a full exhaust system or at least remove the pre cat. Get your car flowing better and we can unlock you some more power..  SAFE

Here is a graph from a rolling road day a few weeks ago, its our stage1 custom remap with pre-cat removed, I was on of the highest stage 1 maps of the day.

thanks for explaining just gives u doubts when one tuner says 1 thing and then another experienced company says another.just thought  i was losing out when they said my car was the lowest figures they had seen on there rolling road and that 0.8 to 1 bar of boost requested is very low for a stage 1 remap.will take your advice and have got the car booked in for pre cat delete then will give u call to get the car booked back in soon.thanks.

We can remove the pre-cat if needed..

Your more than welcome to pop down and have a logging session and dyno run, I will explain every thing about logging and the maps and how the power is made, ie peak more dont mean a thing, you could have a really broad torque curve which give more volume/area under the power curves.

Do you have your graphs to had still? If you look at them you will see remapped peak power rpm is not the same as the stock rpm, most of your power will be midrange and I would have a bet on it that yout seeing 50bhp gains at points.. but only 30odd bhp on the peak numbers.

Dont worry or panic you can always come back at anypoint for tweaks or logging, we aint the kind of company to take your money and disown you.

There are a lot of factors than just boost, the major factors over boost are heat and flow.

Nick
