A solid flywheel conversion kit will cost more, but then the flywheel will not ever fail as it is just a chunk of metal with no moving parts. You can buy 'cheap' kits of ebay, TPS, etc...Have a search around. I have seen full kits on ebay for about £200 for the right engine code.

If you choose to go ECP, then you'll notice that the forum code won't give the discount, but use 'clutch15' for a 15% discount.

Whats your idea of cheap? £50?

I'd stick with a sachs kit which can be had for £150-ish but you may also want to consider a flywheel as well is yours has play in it.
Unfortunately you got a 6 speed so that means no cheap kits and cheap solid flywheels.

I have new unused sachs drive plate from a 130 / 150 and a cover that was used for 3000 miles
i replaced it with a stage 2 kevlar unit as my car was running too much torque for a std clutch

The cover has been sent to Sachs for testing to make surte it's ok and i have an email
from their test guy to say it's ok. My piece of mind for selling it on.

I'm just waiting for it to come back. It's in transit apparently.

I'm looking for £80 +p&p but cannot do much until it comes back.

i will have clutch back today (i've been promised)

I will get pics up later.

This clutch is from an ARL - it is a 240mm drive plate and cover
to fit 02M gearbox (6 speed)

I will list part numbers too.

I know there is a list for 'dibs' on this, but i'd like to add my name to it.

Cash waiting and can arrange my own courier. Cheers.

Subject: RE: VW golf clutch warranty - Euro parts ref 5000098762

Hi Ian.

The clamp load was measured at 7100kn on your unit test spec max is 7200kn which is correct.

most covers have 1.5 times more clamp than required .

If the clutch cover had insufficient clamp force it would slip continuously

I have no influence on eurocarprts on how they handle warranties

Best regards

Craig

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a new unused drive plate to go with this..............both SACHS original parts
buyer can have a copy of email sent with part for piece of mind.

£80 + P&P - own courier accepted. I can measure and weigh the parts

cover was only fitted for 3000 miles - i had to fit stage 2 kevlar clutch.
Friction plate has never been used

What power are you running to have to fit a stage 2 clutch?

don't know but std one started slipping after 3000miles

I have since worked out car was overboosting badly - had to get map smoothed out.

Sounds like it might have been contamination? A new standard clutch even with a remap should not slip  :undecided:

Still, a bargain for someone looking for a new clutch

i thought that when i got box removed but dry as a bone. Replaced it with stronger unit
and sent this one off to sachs for a check - Turned out ok.

The problem was the boosting being too strong. All sorted now. Just have a kit surplus to requirements
