looking at buing a ultra wide angle lens.
looking at either the tamron sp 10-24mm f3.5-4.5
or the sigma 10-20mmf4.5-5.6
im leaning towards the tamron due to the bigger apeture
anyone had experience with the tamron?

There is another version of the Sigma 10-20 with constant f3.5: Sigma 10-20 F3.5 EX DC HSM
But this will be more expensive.
To be fair when using a wide angle lens, you're more likely to be taking a shot of a whole scene rather than a specific object, so you probably won't be needing a narrow depth of field.
The Sigma is definitely the more popular lens.
But have you looked at the Tokina - AT-X 116 PRO DX 11-16 F2.8 ?
Tokina aren't as big a name, but make good lenses, so can be cheaper. Here's one on ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tokina-11-16mm-f2-8-AT-X-116-Pro-DX-Wide-Angle-Lens-Canon-Fit-/180855193692?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item2a1bcf405c) dirt cheap at the moment.

Funny you should.mention the tokina, reading a few reviews i think i may have to suck it up and pay the the extra for it.

+1 on the Tokina generally considered the best licensed UWA lens, if you're buying a wide angle lens then you really want an f/2.8 lens;
obviously faster
will be far sharper stopped down to the same (starting) aperture of the cheap lenses
much more versatile, f/2.8 will allow you to capture decent star shots given the amount of light they let in.

well after much review reading i felt i had to invest in the tokina! cant wait for it to arrive now!!!!!

Good choice :afro:
I'll be adding one of these at somepoint to fill the gap between my 10.5mm and 18-200mm

Is the 10.5 the fisheye lens?

Yeah the Nikon f/2.8 it's a Rectilinear or full frame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisheye_lens#Full-frame) so you get "normal" looking images not the circular one from a true fish eye.
