Standard speakers are rubbish!
A Sony is a good budget amp.

Standard speakers in the Mk4 are much better than standard ones in a MK3

MK4 speakers are pretty good but better when run with a Sub, i only took mine out as the mrs has the car now & isn't a bass head like me

got this at a bargain price http://www.dakmart.com/p10951/Sony-XM-ZR604-Xplod-4-Channel-600-watt-Car-Amplifier-XMZR604-/product_info.html.
just amped up the front speakers, was gna bridge the other 2 channels for a sub and run the rears off the head unit.
sounds gr8 with just the amp n stock speakers however, I want it louder lol so may upgrade the speakers as well.

I had a twin 10" amped sub box in mine 800w rms of pure bass certainly was loud enough  it apprently peaked at 2000w but we all know peak figures are nonsense

just got a 12" sony sub as well with 380 w RMS, im sure the manual with the sub said that it could produce 300w bridged (may be wrong), would this mater lol
