Title: Headlight Estimate
Post by: jimbooboo on 01 April 2012, 15:58
Okay, I know you guys will be think just buy second hand and DIY but..

How much would it be for a brand new headlight + fitting + alignment etc?

I can do this myself. I just need to know how much it would cost if I were to go to the dealers, or a body shop etc??

Cheers, James

Whats wrong with yours?

New head light can be had for around £50 (About £70 - £80 ish from vw) + half hour labour to fit and align around £75 from a normal garage or £120 ish from VW at a guess

or do what ive done, drill a few holes into the existing clips and slap a load of decent glue on, the glue will go into the holes and anchor it and then seal over the crack, much easier and cheeper and has passed mots

The money doesn't matter in this case I need it brand spanking new, all lined up anll fitted etc. All the bells and whistle.

Any other time i would have just glued it.

just ring vw and ask for a quote..

i know they charge around £150 for a mk4 GTI headlight (the ones without the built-in fogs on lesser models are far cheaper). probably an hour labour on that with the bumper removal.

i take it someone has clouted your headlight and you're going to hit them with a massive bill, then use the money to go buy a used one and pocket the difference
