noticed that the display on my mk4 golf AGU goes a bit dim after a while, the square box with red numbers etc (forgive my ignorance), also the segments on the numbers (if yous get me) seem to go as if the LCD is damaged in some way.
in the morning its fine and is bright and easy to read as it should be but in the afternoon it goes this wonky way.
any1 else had this, sorry if the explanation is a bit sketchy, will try n get pics soon .

Yeah its common new clocks is the cheapest option
-
exactly the same thing here! when it warms up they seem to dim, this hot weather isnt helping at all. just gives you an excuse to get better clocks i suppose!
-
Im sure someone like ARD on ukmkivs could fix it for you but S/H clocks can be had for £30 so it may not be worth it
-
Same here.

im assuming its better off just goin for a second hand 1 of the same year etc.
also would the mileage have to be set or is this stored on the ecu

It's easy mate. Mine used to do the exact same thing, I managed to pick up a new cluster for £100 on eBay, r32 set to less
Then a nice gentleman fro this Nd the ukmkiv forum fitted them for a very reasonable price. Included coding them in and everything.
