Title: MK5 GTI brake pads
Post by: Poached on 30 March 2012, 23:02
I recently changed the front pads on my car.

Is it normal for the outer pad to sit in this position,as shown in the pictures below?

The pads appear to rattle over speed bumps. The clip on the front is on secure enough and there doesnt seem excessive play in the caliper either. The pads are thicker at one end.

Any thoughts?

For anyone whose interested, I refitted the front drivers side and it appears to have reduced the rattle a lot.

However Im not fully convinced about how the pads slot in positon and wouldnt cause the pads to rattle in the first place as its not the most secure of fits.

As for the shape of the pads, they were sitting properly.
