Title: The best of VAGCOM
Post by: RedHP on 30 March 2012, 19:21
Since one of our many MVP's (Kenneth AKA Kenny GTi) has recently provided me with a few ideas, I am intrigued to find out which of your VAGCOM tweaks you find either an advantage/improvement or a great option which suits your personal preferences........?
Forgot to mention, please state the before and after affects to provide our friends of details and suggestions

Static cornering lights.

I don't know how these are legal, your not supposed to use Fog lights unless the weather dictates it so how can they be legal every time you turn a corner?

I don't like them one bit.

I think they come on SEAT's as standard so they probably are legal. But I agree, I don't like them either, however from the above photo it does look like they are quite practical.

They're definately legal, they're standard on the GT along with a few other manufacturers but imo are a bit of a gimmick.

My dad's last two Ibiza has had them

IMO they're crap as they only work under 20mph or whatever; I'd want them to come on at speed when you're out on main roads not in the middle of towns where the street lights do a fairly decent job of lighting your route

Mercedes and Fiat also have the static cornering lights.
As for the legal side, only one comes on at a time so maybe they get round the legal requirements that way plus I don't think they get to full brightness of the fog lights when they are being used as cornering lights.

I personally think its embarrassing sitting at traffic lights with what looks like your fog lights on but one of them broke!!

Would a main dealer do the dial staging (sweeping)?

Probably, if you explained it to them in very simple terms, but they'd charge you a bomb... I've got VAG COM and don't mind doing stuff for free.......
