Just got car bk from garage after having thermostat fitted and to look at starter motor.
Car gets up to temperature alot quicker, mpg also improved so that's the good news :D
Bad news: he tried to clean and grease starter motor but it is on its way out so need to look at gettig a new one some time :(
Also gear box is on way out :( so need a reconditioned one? Best place and price?
It's for 2003 5 speed 1.8t (aum)
Thanks

Whats up with your gearbox?
-
had my agu box reconditioned start of 2009 for 195 as 1st an second gear were gone

Whats up with your gearbox?
Getting hard to get into gears, makes a crunching noise in some gears and u really have to force it into gears. Tried the linkage and other bits but suspects its something inside the box so was recommended to get a reconditioned one.

Clutch is ok / new ?

He clutch seems fine. Not slipping or anything still strong biting point.
-
You sure the clutch is ok , sounds like it's dragging
-
you tried changing gearbox fluid :undecided:
-
I was losing gears a while back then did the gear linkage thingy and it was fine then it just became harder to change gears, having to force them in. Plus a clunking noise when changing gears.
No haven't changed fluid. Would that make any difference?
