Post by: jnufcuk on 29 March 2012, 16:03

Car gets up to temperature alot quicker, mpg also improved so that's the good news :D

Bad news: he tried to clean and grease starter motor but it is on its way out so need to look at gettig a new one some time :(

Also gear box is on way out :( so need a reconditioned one? Best place and price?

It's for 2003 5 speed 1.8t (aum)

Thanks

Whats up with your gearbox?

Getting hard to get into gears, makes a crunching noise in some gears and u really have to force it into gears. Tried the linkage and other bits but suspects its something inside the box so was recommended to get a reconditioned one.

I was losing gears a while back then did the gear linkage thingy and it was fine then it just became harder to change gears, having to force them in. Plus a clunking noise when changing gears.

No haven't changed fluid. Would that make any difference?
