Hi everyone,
Just wondering if it is possible to convert a mk1 golf hatch thats running a 2.0 8v engine, to get it turbo charged, i know alot of people who are dropping mk4 20v turbo's in but i dont want to lose bottom end grunt ( is it worth it ).
Cheers

Would take quite a bit of work and money to turbo charge your 8v plus running costs won't be pretty. However I understand your thinking a little. What engine are you running?.. mk3 8v or mk3 bottom end with mk1 head?

Its running a mk3 bottom end and i think a mk1 top end but il just double check.

its running a fully mk3 2.0 8v engine with mk1 inlet manifold.

A remapped 1.8t will give you loads of torque and should not have any real lag.
Could be easier in the long against trying to turbo yours.

ok cheers guys its back to the drawing board for me, probs an aug or a bam conversion.

BAM it. A friend of mine did this conversion, vid here of a run up the strip:

Qpeng loom and map gavis the car a switchable map from standard 225 - 260bhp andmakes the conversion plug & play. I had loads of rides in that car and the lag was not an issue. Cruising about it's drivable then when you floor it all hell brakes loose. They are seriously quick!
