Title: hope it aint a bomb!!

can any help?? my Mk2 gti 8v has a ticking noise coming from the clocks and the faster i go the faster and noisier the ticking. can it be cured or is it a replacement??
some instruction would help too

Must be the cable on the back of the rev counter. Something must have worn or came off. Pain in the ass job though.

take all the switches out by pulling them out carefully. sterio out and pull the heater switches and heater control surround out.

unscrew all the screws you can see. there are about 6 i think and 2 above the clocks.

now the dash surround should come out.

To take the clocks out just unscrew the two screws holding them in place.

tricky bit is to get your hand behind the clocks and clip the speedo cable back in place. if its worn then replace it

thats about it really :undecided:

now clean the stuff while your at it and refit :wink:

tbh when i had this on my old mk2 it was because id pushed the reset tab in on the trip counter and it hadnt engaged properly!! when i pushed it again firmly it cured the noise..

Just a thought

mine do the same, i just turn the radio up!  :rolleyes:
getting some white dials soon so will see if i can cure the problem then!  :smiley:

cheap speedo cables do that......makes the clock tick!!!

it was a regular tick machine morning day night afternoon..... tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick......
how many ticks is that........alot!! :grin:

that clocks ticked 1 to many times
