8 years without an oil change!
-
 DAMN!
-
I'll bet thats a womans car. :lipsrsealed:
-
Looks like someone has shat in the engine
-
 Thats gonna take some serious flushing
-
Isn't that the BMW from a few years ago?
-
Some people shouldnt be allowed cars
-
Not surprised tbh, a woman at work bought a focus outright from New and has not serviced it yet for several years. Another friend of my partner had a cambelt snap whichvhasn't been changed for 7 years, apparently her response was "whats a cambelt".

My bother in law bought a 2007 Zafira with 30,000 odd miles on it... it now has 190,000+ miles and not had the cambelt changed! !! The only thing thats really gone wrong with it so far is an alternator at just over 100,000 miles and that cost around £800 to put right  He just likes to ignore all the noises it makes :lipsrsealed:
-
some people push there luck and win, an ex's parent's ran a new diesel shogun and never had it serviced despite doing many miles (and lots of towing!) and never had any bother......
If I miss a cambelt change by a day and it will snap!!
-
In my opinion, regular use and a cambelt will last more miles then one that's used a bit then sits in the cold for ages going brittle.
-
That engine is epic! bet it ran perfect too
-
never in my days have i seen a motor that bad
-
Dealers and Garages must love people who do that to a car. What a mess though
-
i wonder if they kept on topping up the oil or just left it to do as it wished
-
I've seen a fair few rover v8's like that, it's such a forgiving engine that it'll keep on giving good service right up to the point where it lets go, and even then it never took much to get it sorted and back on the road.
-
having spent just 8 months in a garge, I gotta say NOTHING surprises me any more,
there are some shocking cars out on the roads, and peoples attitudes to SERIOUS defects on their cars . :lipsrsealed:

That might have something to do with the economic situation, car bought on finance....work goes down the pan...finance company still wants its cash and the owner is too proud to admit defeat and downgrade.

I'd say its a mixture of things, like my golf will be sorn soon. I don't want to sell it as the return value isn't great only to have to buy another car down the line that will end up to be a lemon. My cambelts due now as well. I know the mechanics very well and its always taken a lot of abuse and always well looked after. But we have another car ontop of this and I live outside a train station which I use to get to and from work.
Some people will still go over there heads and still use the car in this situation and under-maintain it rather than sorn it or sell it as they see it as a need rather than a want.
