Title: Speed camera advice
Post by: AndyG on 26 March 2012, 06:21
Early this morn I had to turn back home as I forgot to leave the baby seat.Any way I was speeding but as I virtually stopped as the traffic lights changed and I saw a flash in the mirror.Dont know where from maybe the red light camera. There are no fixed cameras apart from traffic light ones surely this couldn't of flashed me for speeding 50 yards previous?

Sunlight reflecting off another vehicle maybe...?

Hope it wasnt the camera, or at least not for you.

It was 5.30 in morning so not the sun.Surely I cannot be flashed for speeding some 10seconds previous.when it flashed I was virtually standstill.

The flash is the taking of a picture of you committing the offence, if you were stationary I can't see how the picture could show you committing an offence.

You've already admitted to speeding, so if you have been caught, take it like a man and don't worry about it.

Personally I don't think GTD's are to far behind the GTI's performance esp with 258 torque!

They are a mile away when it comes to performance even with all that torque in the GTD.

I think The Doc posted on here ages ago regarding the two cars against each other and he said that when the GTD is mapped it's close to the performance of the GTI, so I don't know how a standard one is also close....

Interesting article on piston heads today about the two...and their comments on the efficiency of the edi 35.

Got my candy white 3 dr GTI today after ordering 1st December so not too bad a wait. Only trouble is I am in hospital at the mo so only have a picture of it my dad took when the mush delivered it. I gave my dad a crash course in inspecting alloy wheels, shut lines etc etc. He best not have let me down....

No point worrying, if you've been done - you've been done!!

You'll get sent on a 'Speed Awareness' course which will cost you anything up to £100 depending on where you live and that's it, no points, but if you get caught again then it will be points straight away.

The course is interesting enough and it has helped me to see the error of my ways somewhat

Best of luck.

According to this UK speed camera site....
http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/traffic-light-camera.htm
Then yes, some traffic light cameras can catch you speeding!
