Yeah was using it all day and I couldn't find it on the MFD, Is there a setting on the head unit or mfd I haven't activated?

Have you asked your dealer?

Also thinking that instead of replacing car that was broken into (see my other long winded thread) they have just stuck a new unit in this one and forgotten to code.

That would be my thought now that you mention it. I would be seeking assurances and proof that isnt what theyve done.

Good luck mate.

So they told you they found another car with the exact same spec because the one you bought was delayed because the sat nav was stolen. I call full on bull sh!t with that, the chances of finding another exact same spec car is near impossible.

Maybe if it is it will be logged against the car on the system?

Especially as you specc'd your car with a sunroof - I wouldn't think there'd be too many around with the sunroof option.

Good point, this sounds very dodgy, I'd definitely be seeking proof of it being a different car.

Keep us informed mate.

When you update your clock via dashboard today, did the clock on your RNS screen also update?
If yes then there is a connection there but not completed. If not then no connection between RNS and MFD
My simple opinion, maybe wrong...?

I took it in yesterday and they fixed it in about 10 minutes. Apparently the bluetooth box had tripped the connection, as they had it working for PDI. One thing I noticed when I had the car back was that the colour settings were all different on the RNS, bit weird...not sure how it happened. Anyone have any idea why this would have happened?

In regards to finding a replacement; VW gave me both the old and new commission number, and they had to dealer fit the cruise control. There is no obvious sign from the car that anything is awry, but it could be VW playing games or the dealer trying to explain the delay....Who do I ask first?

Thanks

You can change the colour scheme but you need VCDS or the dealer to do it..

The different colour schemes are shown HERE (http://www.my-gti.com/1214/changing-the-volkswagen-rns-510-colour-scheme)

If they've changed the colours on the RNS then they have coded it via their equivalent of VAG COM. Not really sure how Bluetooth can " trip " the connection though.

I would ask them to show you both orders (commission numbers) on SLI - just turn up and ask the salesman to show you so they don't have time to prepare any excuses. Both orders will have the VIN's on there so you should be able to check it against your car, and don't forget to check the options as your VIN should not have cruise control on the order   IMHO it 100% shouldn't be on there if they've retrofitted it, regardless of what they say

If you speak to VW UK about it then I would advise calling the executive office on 08443754625, explain the situation and insist on proof

Good luck,

Scott

Thanks for this, so they ve taken mine from 'premium' to 'sportsline'. Think I preferred the original. Does anyone know what the stock colour for RNS should be (with GTI 35?).

Scott, cheers, I ll look into this. I ll call VW UK to check.

Decode the sticker in your boot, this will tell you what the car was built with.

It should look like this one in the GTI:

To me, it does sound like the RNS was retro-fitted to a car that didn't have it from factory! Does the car have the sharkfin aerial? That would only be there if it were factory fit.

The bluetooth systems don't use sharkfins anymore.

Yes, it now looks like that one, and it does have the sharkfin. The problem could have been that the original factory fitted unit was removed (stolen) and replaced with another one.
