ok i have been using my iphone now for about a year on the 3 network. have decided to loose the contract sim and stick a pay as you go sim in the phone.
does anybody know how i tell if its locked to 3 network?
i tried my wifes vodaphone pay as you go sim in it. the phone came on fine and didnt ask for a code or anything but the signal bar in the corner just says no network. does that mean its locked to 3 network?
any help welcome please.

unless I'm wrong, If you got it from Carphonewarehouse or phones4u or somewhere like that it will be a generic handset and won't be locked, if you got it from a 3 shop it probably will be, also if it has a 3 symbol on the phone it will be locked, if it hasn't probably not.

yes its locked

Just take it your local market stall & they will unlock it for a few ££

I may be wrong but i'm pretty sure that once your out of contract you can request an unlock code from 3 to use it with any sim.
