Title: Turbo trouble

Oh no, so I had finished building my hybrid and all was well, everything  balanced and hunky dory. Took it for a spin around the block and it pulled like a jet. It made me smile but thought I would take it for one more blast. And then it started to sound like a supercharger :( . No smoke or leaks so I investigated. I took the tip off and it appears the  compressor wheel has slipped a few degrees. I'm a solutely gutted. Now I'm hoping the marks are still. Visible so I can realign. There is no play at all in the shaft either.

How do you know it's slipped a few degrees. Did you take it a part?

Also did you use sealant on the compressor housing/backplate? Screaming can be air escape between the 2 . Without sealant it's almost impossible to get a good seal. Sorry to hear though. Hope you ran the car on actuator pressure only as if your not mapped you'll run horribly lean.

Hi dan, I marked the nut, shaft and wheel prior to assembly when I took the tip off I used an inspection mirror to see if any fins were bent And if there was any play and I could see that the marks had moved. I used instant gasket on the  seal plate. I now have the turbo off and apart and can see from a mile off that it's out of alignment. I will realign it now and see how it goes.

I have now realigned the turbo, I realised that the nut wasnt torqued enough which caused the slippage. The turbo is now reassembled and fitted to the car. The noise seems quieter but not making any boost but the turbo does spin freely. Has anyone had any problems with a forge dv sticking open? I'm sure there must be a leak somewhere in the system. I don't think I am going to continue with this turbo now. Going to build another :(

Is it on an agu? It could have gone into safe mode and you haven't noticed cos there's no dash light for it. Needs codes wiped

hope you get it sorted fella as going to enquire about my old turbo monday as want to go hybrid with it if the garage that changed my engine aint sold it lol  :laugh:
