Title: Time to break out the Golf
Post by: Thom89 on 22 March 2012, 20:30
Time is fast approaching for Taxing the Golf again, its been laid up since the end of November, I'll start off with a full service, including changing the gear box oil, brake fluid and antifreeze, and may treat her to some Goodrich Flexi hoses  :lipsrsealed:
Followed by a full compounding, and probably removing the rear wheel arch mouldings to check for rust, and re apply some decent cavity wax...
Anyone else doing similar?

Thom

Mine ought to come out from hibernation really. I didn't do any of the jobs I'd planned over the winter. Out of sight. out of mind and all that. The main thing I need is a pair of rear dampers and bump stops then a full service.

This year I WILL drive it more. Mind you, I said that last year and ended up only doing 400 miles.

Mines been in use all year, but soon she goes off for new bonnet fit and colour, the wings, doors and rear quarters are to be perfected for marks and re-painted. I'm going to fully de-trim the car, get paintwork done, then off for undersealing, then a full refit of plastics when returned to me.. All arches etc in excellent condition, but am still going to town on more arch sealing.. This is preventative and will also perfect the cars body, she's already in pretty good shape. I'm even going to offer trim up, drill fixings, then remove, paint rivet holes then fix them. Also need to find tape for along the sill where skirt meets paint.. I can't wait for it be done, but just finding it hard to be bothered to start the ball rolling on it all when I enjoy driving it so much. Will post pics of my awesome colour (tabac) for you all to drool over with some before and after shots!!! Forget oak green for rarity, you wait until you see this little puppy. Don't you just love a shiney mk2 in the hot summers sun, with the rays reflecting off paintowrk and dished wheels etc.

Oak Green is only rare in ebay listings or in the classifieds of E38.

What colour is Tabac when it's at home?

Its a burgandy, with gold? Metallic laquer. In the sun its a cracking red, in the shade its a bit darker. My mates say its brown, but its not, its bootifull. Every show I've been to I've had comments on how people have never seen another the same, I've seen one but it wasn't metallic. I think on clubgti I may have spotted one the same, and it was also a 1.3cl to begin with so I'm pretty certain its the same without seeing it in the flesh.. Will defo have to get some pics this summer, been meaning to for a couple of years now!! Lovely colour imo, and uber rare. No. Plate says.   H*** UNG also . Winner, I only paid £100 for it 7years ago!

Most things that are a bit burnt are brown, if they are a lot burnt, they are black.

A big +1

Spent an hour at the post office today taxing the golf because DVLA web site wouldnt let me tax it from first of april! Its currently on sorn and i rang them last week asking when i can tax it for 1st of april and he said that i could today. it was only allowing me to tax it from the 1st march, fooking loosers.
