Title: Enjoying the theory of GTi
Post by: Panthera on 22 March 2012, 19:55
I purchased my '57' plate blue graphite 5 door GTi, the last weekend of January this year and now since the weather is better now I have been 'playing' with the car and I am really thoroughly enjoying driving the car.  The grip and handling is almost on par with my Impreza I used to own (4 cars ago) - that's saying something.  Its just a joy to drive. Fun and safe comfortable and fits me nicely (I am 6ft 4" slim build male) .   My commute to work consists of 4 ish miles of country lanes, an A road to my work place in Milton Keynes so its gets a good test.  The MPG she is returning is a good 10-12mpg more than my previous two cars.  I only wish I had of bought a GTi before my second Volvo S60R, a car of which I never actually enjoyed owning.  I am a very happy GTi owner here. Just thought I would mention this to you all.

I can see why the Golf is such a popular car now and why some many people like it and also what car programs, the one on channel 5 and the one on bbc 2 all rate the GTi as the best hot hatch. It defiantly is Das Welt Auto.

What are your thoughts on your Golf/GTi?

  at the comments above.

I saw a tornado red GTD (12 plate) in MK this afternoon and it looked awesome. I would like to see a GTD with monza shadows....

I owned my mk4 1998 1.8t for 3 years and only car that has become part of me. Enjoy it, just be prepaired to fix its problems and make it better.

You don't know what a GTI is until you've had a mk1/2

Best GTI I have driven is a Mk6 closely followed by a Mk6 GTD
