Title: ipod newbie

i'm wanting to ditch the cd's in my car and replace with an ipod.

i've been looking at touch 1st gens on the bay and they seem to be going quite cheap.

what is the difference between the gens? will a 1st gen do for my needs? it will only be used in the car, not for aps or videos etc etc.

the reason im looking at touchs is because i cannot control the pod from my stereo so my thinking is a touch will be best for scanning artists etc?

help needed before i impulse buy :-)

Got a phone with Bluetooth and MP3 playback? Get a BT hands free kit that also has a low power FM transmitter built in, tune your cars radio into the frequency job done. I can recommend the Jabra £30 unit.

The touch and a decent head unit is a good choice although it's best to check compatibility as some head units won't work with the touch or iphone, personally i would get a normal ipod or ipod nano as these seem to work with almost everything.

Also worth considering are head units that use memory cards/sticks, i have a blaupunkt los angeles that takes an sd card the same as a digital camera and its great for chopping and changing music as you just slot it in to your laptop and drag and drop your music on to it.

i have my ipod and my iphone (bluetooth) hooked up to this. Cant fault it. (well i can, but its petty)

tbh i use a wharfdale head unit i got from argos over 12 months ago and its 1 of the best head units ive had.

u can aonnect anythink to it vier usb , aux , bluetooth also has 2 aux ports comeing out the back for your amp needs

but if its just a ipod u want just get urself a classic as u just set up play lists or let it random play like i do and get urself a radio sender
