Title: rear disc conversion

Hi guys need some help!
I'm wanting to convert the rear of my cabriolet
To discs but am a. Bit confused as to what parts I need?
I know that I need to change the rear beam but which
One do I use?
I want to keep my 4 stud, so would this mean using an early mk3 gti one?
Or can I use a mk2 one?
 Also which brake hoses will I need the mk3 gti or mk2 gti?

Any help greatly appreciated

Ive done this to my TDI, I used:

Mk3 GTI Beam, hoses, handbrake cables, pads.

Mk2 GTI Disks

This is what confuses me, isn't a mk3 gti 5 stud?
Or are the early ones 4 stud later ones 5 stud?

All Mk3 GTI are 5 stud.

The wheel screws into the disk, so in effect the disc is the hub.

A Mk2 disk is direct swap but 4 stud.

Just done this to the wife's lupo but swapped for polo GTI brakes, I didn't do the beam just swapped the stub axles over, I would assume the mk3 will be no different.....

ive also done this to my tdi but have got 5 stud set up alll round from a mk3 16v ..

you can get a complete rear beam from a mk2 gti and change it from drums to disc's ...

you could also use a 2.0 vento or cabrio (with rear discs) set up.........which is basically a mk2 set up

So as its a cabriolet which stub axels would I use mk2 or mk3?
Boneybradley you say its basicly a mk2 set up so would mk2 stud axles fit the mk3 cabrio?

Yes mk2 stub axles and discs, don't forget new wheel bearings as well.

Sorry to bring this up again but when doing this conversion is it nessesary to change the brake pipes or can you use the drum pipes for the disc calipers?

No you can't they are different.
