Well spoke to a copper and thay said as long as thay have got no cuts on numbers and thay am not all over the place thay won't tuch you so ur ok
-
Depends how much of a richarf the copper wants to be
iirc german font is different to gb plates. and also the spacing.
not worth the hasssel. Just get legal ones. Its a plate.

Makes no difference, if they are not the correct font and do not have a suppliers name on them they will fine you, never worth the hassle.
-
i have pressed plates on mine and to be legal must have a bsau145d number on them and must be in a charles wright font for them to be legal thats mot and to keep plod happy, had no problems with mine but as said if car is not registered as a german car will also get done as said look good but not worth the hassle.
-
The background of the plate must be relective aswell
-
pressed plates on mine with the d,
never had any problems with the plod and they are funny in my area with people who have custom plates but mines spaced correct,
only take them off for the mot
as they are illegal and not mot friendly.
but they stay on there at all times
-
Ive been pulled with pressed plates on my old mk3 I had to take the car to a MOT station and get a slip stamped and send it to the police to prove I had removed the old plates and replaced them with legal ones. Not to long ago I was on my way to Wales and the motorway police stopped me for my plates again saying they were the wrong font gave me a £60 fine on the spot the b@stard  like Wayne said there really not worth the trouble the police will get you sooner or later.
-
I had got a fine too not long ago..there right thingy coppers up lancashire sides everytime i go there i get pulled over and they try there best find something fook me over with.. this time was pressed plates i had.. i got normal plates now.. pressed plates aint worth getting 60 fine for
In midlands get pulled all time and never had probs they actualy say nice car mate  so matters on how much a55hole the copper wants to be too
-
pressed plates are legal though
-
Only if they are the correct font, correct spacing, reflective, stamped with bs numbers and postcode of who made them.
-
pressed plates are legal though
not what he told me.. they have to be reflective or something .. i got some off the bay so must have not been.. i woud not risk it either way aint worth 60 quid just for plates
-
On my previous mk4 with R32 front bumper had little 9"x3" stick on film number plates for about a year never had any problems.

mine tick all the boxes to be legal, I'd have my day in court if I was pulled

ive been done 3 times for plates £90 in ive learnt my lesson i just run standard ones the europl8 ones are legal but even with them on i got felt up several times with traff cops just wanting to be difficult i couldnt be bothered with the hassle anymore
-
ps alot of these ebay ones are reflective its that supplier name and bs number u need there the magic ingredients plus dont be fooled by the mot and the law on the road are massivley 2 different things
-

Unless you show or supply docs to get a number plate they are ilegal / show plates only, suppliers have to keep records.

Which appears to be falling on deaf ears in this thread
Oh well
-
How about having correct font spacing but buying the plate before the law changed to say you have to have bs numbers and show your documents

still had issues and im an mot tester so i can usually try wangle my way out of a situation to do with motoring but know what your saying about the suppliers keeping records the traffs just dont seem to care i even had a lad in recently with an r32 who had same issues even thought the plates were legal they still made him remove them you could always take it to court but who wants the hastle of that !!!
-
dubmister plates are all good.. but as noladdubholmes said you still get arsy coppers who will trying saying they are illegal knowing majority of us cant be ar5ed to take it as far as court even if we are in the right in the end..the copper that pulled me over told me all pressed plates are illegal they have to be standard reflective plastic plates.. which  me .. funny enough he did not say nothing about the front plate which i have evo style one on corner bumper.. even tho his fellow collegue was adament i should get 60 fine for that too..they where litteraly debating in front of me if the front is illegal or not.. (shows some coppers dont know text book law even though it is there job to know so!) lukily i only got fine for the rear plate ..
WE NEED A REVOLUTION

You don't have to take them to court. Take your fine, then email Dubmister and they will write a very stern letter for you explaining how and why they are legal. Had that over to the superintendent and case is dropped.
Theres a thread in off topic about it. everything got dropped and he got a letter apologising for the hassle
