Title: OEM mk3 golf cl brake upgrades?
Post by: DanChave on 19 March 2012, 19:11
First of all, I want to retain my 4x100 PCD so i don't have to buy new adapters.

I have heard from various sources that that I can fit G60 discs and VR6 calipers and pads up front and this is a direct fit onto the CL hubs. I have also heard that G60 rear stub axles will fit straight onto the CL rear beam, allowing the rear discs and calipers to fit.

My question is, is this info correct and what other options are there? I noticed today that the Ibiza Cupra 20vt's are 4 stud, would the discs and calipers fit on the mk3 platform?

Rear is easy just use mk2 Golf stub axles, discs and bearings.

You have a lot of choices for the front.

Unless your running bonkers power rear drums will be fine.

I'm not looking for crazy power, not to start off with anyways :) I will be getting hold of a GTI rear beam to refurb as well as a GTI front subframe, so I want to collect all the other parts to refurb and build up with them! So are the mk2 GTI rear discs and calipers, stub axles and bearings etc all the same on the GTI 8v, 16v and G60? What are my other options for the front set up?

You can change to the GTI setup obviously if your going 5 stud, but your only real option if staying 4 stud is Corrado G60 setup which will give you 280mm front.

Cheers Sean, what's the difference between the mk2 G60 and the Corrado G60 front set up?

Tbh mate, I don't know what the brake setup on the mk2 G60 was. That car is seriously rare though, so your far more likely to get a Raddo G60 setup.
