I have recently fitted 3c8 kit to 09 gti but I cant get it to work just how I would like. Firstly it will not connect the phone to either my iphone 3gs or my friends iphone 4 but connects to the girlfriends sony no problem. Secondly I can get my phone to connect via media player but will only play if I force to play on my iphone then will work, ie; does not allow to play from headunit, which is rns510. Thirdly I can not get the microphone button to work as voice control. Any suggestion from someone who has had same problem would be greatly appreciated. Or any recommendations of people to pm on here would be a great help.

I've just fitted a kit to my GT. It won't connect to my Blackberry at all. It finds it, but won't pair. It connects up to my wifes old Nokia straight away.
The mic issue could be to do with where it's plugged in. For example, the RCD510 does not support voice recognition and the mic needs to be plugged into the bluetooth module. with the RNS, it needs to be plugged into the radio. The kit that I bought had 3 separate plugs for the mic, so it gave the option of plugging it in wherever it need to go.
There maybe some useful pointers in this thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=224019.0

The wiring harness I got had 3 different connecters to connect the mic and i'm still not sure which one to connect it too, the jobs are never easy, no wonder vw dont retro-fit. I will get it though, eventually. Which one did you connect it too in the end?

VW don't retro fit it because it can't be done using genuine parts. The kits come with a piggy back loom made by a third party specifically for retro fitting. When it is factory fitted, the car has a different wirng loom to one that does not have bluetooth. The mic for example, that comes as part of the main wiring harness for the interior lights, ultrasonics, light and reain sensor etc.
My mic for my RCD plugged into the lead that went to the module, if you have an RNS, you need it to be plugged into one of the 2 taht go into the back of the radio plug.
Have you codded it properly? I found this guide really helpfull, http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=151928.0
