Title: to break or fix...?
Post by: R5 JTVJAMESTVAUGHAN on 17 March 2012, 16:03
not sure where i stand, I bought a MK4 golf 1.6 a few weeks ago 'only needed a new gearbox' but fitted a new box, then it was misfiring, so I looked at the coilpack and found a spilt in it, so changed the coilpack and engine mount, then tried to drive it and it cut out, so bought a new battery, looked at the engine, and its a mess. just covered in water and oil! not sure whether to sell/break or put a new engine in! some advice would be appreciated

only you can answer that question to be honest mate. what`s the milage on it, what`s its condition other than the faults you mention ect?. weigh it all up, wether you like the car or not and decide from there. 1.6`s are known for problematic gearboxes..
