Title: UK to USA step-down transformer
Post by: DubFan on 17 March 2012, 12:12
Seeing as we have so many knowledgeable people on here, does anyone know where I can get a decently priced UK to USA step-down transformer (for using an American appliance in the UK)?
It needs to able to cope with a 325watt appliance, so all the ones in Maplin are no use as the largest they do can only do 300watts.

The best I've found is this for £45: http://www.beststuff.co.uk/store/Power-Bright-500-Watt-Step-Down-Up-Voltage-Converter.htm (http://www.beststuff.co.uk/store/Power-Bright-500-Watt-Step-Down-Up-Voltage-Converter.htm)

Anyone know a better supplier for one of these?

Technically a "site" transformer would work those yellow numb things builders use as they step down to 110v but they are center tapped earth.. what are you trying to power?

Found one thanks to ebay.
It's to power an imported KitchenAid food mixer that my wife bought.
