Post by: Justins145bhpMK1 on 27 May 2005, 11:58

Whats the best place to try for cheap insurance. Im only using the 16v as a second car, prob 3k max mileage a year.

So far HIC have come up with 230 TPFT

Any ideas??

Mines up next month also!

rubjonny - - I just did a qoute on www.greenlightinsurance.com,

It says qoute on - sports hatch or modified, i did the modified as my car is modified but only the exterior not the engine, the only modified question was to state the BHP! i just put in the factory 139 as i have no idea what it is! :)

Question, what is classed as mdified for car insurance? The only things that are not standard spec are:

Different alloyes
Single wiper
single head light grill
half stainless exhaust system

Would these glass as modified?

Cheers

It's any modification from stock so this would include anything that you've changed. Best to tell them anyway even if it doesn't make a difference to the premium because if the worst comes to the worst and you need to make a claim they will not need much excuse to make your claim invalid.

Yup thats exactly what I did on my quote, if the engine hasn't been modified just put 139bhp :)

Only one problem with these guys is they want you to tell them EVERYTHING you have done over standard.  Once you get your form thru the post there is a mods section just add on everything you have forgotten there :)

Oh and they charge £25 for any ammendments after the policy has been set up!
