Sorry if this has been covered but what do you look out for when looking for tdi.. Looking and leons. Audis vw etc vag group tdi.. Iv never even driven a diesel  :lipsrsealed: so how should they sound what should look for?? :smiley:

They should sound like a knackered petrol  :grin:

Be prepared to be surprised  :lipsrsealed:

The normal VAG faults TBH bushes knocking noises etc,the PD 130/ 150 is the one to go for avoid the SDI or anything non turbo.

Is there anything should keep eye on as in black smoke?? Also
Do they have cambelts :lipsrsealed:

They do smoke (more so if mapped) but it shouldn't be excessive. Yes cam belts and water pumps  :lipsrsealed:

Water pumps are bullet proof on these engines  :tongue:

all the power starts coming in from approx 1500rpm; peak torque is at 1800-2000rpm and tails off after 3000rpm

excessive black smoke and lack of power usually indicates a boost leak
