I can see why someone might want to scrap it - with the roof down it'd make a convenient skip.

In all seriousness I'm shocked at what people consider scrapping.  Well done for saving it - plenty of life left in that I should imagine.

Yep, I have a friend who does crazy things like this quite often.  Even as far as spending quite a bit of money on a car to put things right, then giving up when there is nothing wrong with it and letting it go for nothing!.

Praise for saving a MK3 though Mr C? coming from you that still makes me laugh.  You're becoming quite sensitive in your old age.

they brought 2 new cars mate a 04 smart for two and a 2012 skoda yeti  then they were going to sell it to we buy any car and they offered them £500 and she said it was an insult and she'd rather scrap it due to just finishing paying £8k for it with finance  and they said they wanted to give it to me as a project so i accepted and my dads going to be using it for long journeys and weekends as im only 17 (insurance :lipsrsealed:) and it is bigger than the 206cc so better for long journeys as has bit more space  :nerd:

i'd be using wet n dry on that... followed by 00 gauge wire wool with farrecla polish and then finishing off with a good quality metal polish like autosol or belgom alu

no reason why you can't achieve this, by hand, with this method....
