Woke up on Sunday morning to find this.
Pictures fairly self explanatory, smashed window, B pillar plastic broken, wing mirror housing broken, door frame behind wing mirror slightly bent, window seal has prize marks, gear knob marked, top of door card marked and one effing big RNS 510 size whole in my dash.
A significant cash reward is offered for the correct name and address of the c**t that did this. Even if you have any suspicions please, please come forward with them, you will remain completely anonymous.
Repair bill mounts to £2965 inc VAT. I am a young driver so its not worth me claiming which will inevitably send my premiums through the roof.
And if your reading this you low life, dole dossing scrotum, Ill see you soon. Justice shall Prevail. :lipsrsealed:

any chance you have the serial number so we can keep an eye out..

Ive never had the unit out so didn't take it off there, could it be recorded anywhere else?
-
What a w*****!!! Absolute scum of the earth and I hope he dies a very slow, painful death.
I still think this reveals the weakness of VW's stereos i.e. you can nick them. The Lexus IS220 I had recently as a hire car had the stereo built into the dash. You couldn't nick it.
Yes, it's great that you can do all this retro fit stuff with them but security wise they're very vulnerable.

Only if it has been scanned by someone with VCDS although if it is factory fitted I would assume the dealer should be able to get it.
-
Low life scum. I guess they must shift these out of the country or stolen to order? Either way they deserve to be f**king shot.
-
You must be gutted, I know I would be. The radio is coded to the car, so useless unless they have the code.
-
Low life scum

According to the dealer all they need is the vin number of the car to be able to recode it. Looking on eBay it looks as though my nav is probs on it's way to lithuania.

Well that's a crap idea if its true.
-
Feel for you mate, but like for like violence isn't the response.
£3k is a hefty bill to face, so I'd give your insurance situation some more thought.
I really am sorry about what's happened. Regardless of brand/model, no one wants to find this has happened to their car. Unfortunately we all have a bit more passion for our cars hence us buying GTI level models.
-
Gutted for you,did your car alarm go off?was it outside your house?I would place some razor blades behind your new radio so any unwelcome fingers get ripped, removing them of course when you sell the car.
-
Bloody hell, gutted for you mate, it really is easy to get these out I was surprised when I changed mine, especially if you couldn't give a sh*t about the car!!! Fu*king scum!! out of interest, where was it parked?
-
Total F@@king low life's....had the same thing done to a previous car I had so I know what it feels like....
Feel for you mate!
-
Our drive is approx 100ft long and has a 90 degree bend in it, it was parked on the drive but around the corner from the house. I'd been out that night so a fog horn wouldn't have woke me. A neighbour did say she heard the alarm going off...twice, but decided she would roll her fat arse over and go back to sleep rather than look out the window.
-
Bunch of sh!t bags. The government talk about restorative justice, I'd show these sh!t c**ts restorative justice!
-
Atleast yours is still parked there, that's all I have to say
-
Disgusting, absolute scum
Why oh why did VW make them so easy to remove. It's like getting back to the days of the 80's Cavalier, where the decent stereos could be whipped out in no time. The whole reason the car industry moved to unique fit and difficult to remove radios
-
very bad news, get her fixed up and get back to enjoying yout GTI.
+1 for Carpet tack on the back edges! though legally you have to have a sign up! Else you get a stolen radio and get to be sued. I love this world!!
-
Sorry to see what happen to your GTI!
Just a shame that the punishment in this country for scum who did this sort of thing is so soft! Its not just money, it also cause the victim time and emotional upset!
Your case reminds me to be careful where I park my car (lock up in garage at night+park in places where lots of people about!)
-
If they were going to break the window anyway why do all the damage to other parts  A simple window and stereo wouldnt have been as difficult or expensive to replace. mindless cnuts never the less!
-
Makes my blood boil
Hope you get it sorted soon.
Have you reported it to the police at all?? The scum *may* be caught at some point?
-
Yep I couldn't understand why the thick twits tried to prize the plastic off, Even if they did they still would have had to smash the window. The pigs turned up around 3hrs after I rang them, with Forensics turning up a further 4 hrs later, after It was dark. Unfortunately they sent me the most arrogant and least motivated plod they could find who was a bit confused as to why I had moved my car into the garage when it became dark. They took away the screwdriver you can see in one of the pictures, so hopefully something will come of that. Either way the scrote picked the wrong car to fcuk with that night.
-
Feel sorry for you and hope this mess can be sorted out very soon.
-
Nightmare ! Hope they catch the theiving scumbags ! although be better catching them yourself as the Police will do nothing

Agreed, the fcukers broke into our house last Feb/Mar at 2am for the keys, but didn't find them and they scarpered before the house alarm woke us up. There is only one entrance/exit to and from our road (cul-de-sac) and I had to point out to the coppers that there are houses near this entrance who have CCTV but they didn't even bother visiting the nieghbours to check their recorded footage
They also said that the gang are from the Yorkshire area but they didn't bother to check any motorway camera's neither, there aren't too many cars driving up and down the M1 in this area at 2am-ish

Gutted for you. Did the police come round? Any prints on the screwdriver on the floor in pic 1?
-
These people should be locked up....you just have to rise above them...hopefully you will get your motor back to normal...
-
That's sh!t Liam
They're oxygen stealers and hope they get their just desserts.
Whereabouts in WY are you?
-
Really gutted for you. I had this happen to my Passat around 5-6 years ago. Eveything can be fixed/replaced, but getting all the glass out can be a real pain. I've still got glass rattling in the bottom of the door now.
Seeing this does make me wonder where the RNS's on ebay for £5-600 came from.
-
Mkes my blood boil
-
Geez that's gotta hurt, fealin your pain. These bast@d's need lockin up cos they have no idea of the impact that their actions have on normal folks lifes. I can't offer any pearls of wisdom to fix this but I'm sure I speak for all of us on this forum when I say that you have our complete support. Stay cool.
-
And also, if something like this happens to you(I mean in general) then you tend to feel different about the motor...(well that's what I felt like when it happened to me anyway)
-
Yep, considered getting rid :undecided: I'm sure ill change my mind when it's fixed.
-
Disastrous, really feel sorry for you. The work-shy, low-brow scumbags who did that have no conscience. I worry that this may happen to mine every time I park anywhere except in my garage.
-

What a sh!t country we live in where we're scared to park our cars anywhere. I must admit, I am the same. The ironic thing is, if someone wants your car, they will break into your house and steal it, regardless of whether it's in the garage, you sleep with your keys, etc they will get it. I've read numerous stories on the Audi forums over the last 3 years. It's not good at all.

+1 I park my car on a street outside me house and my area is really quite but still every little noise I here outside(esp at night) I tend to look out just in case and this is the reason I had a cat1 set to sensitive on my last car....

I am very lucky in this respect i live in a small cul de sac in a tiny village so don't ever have any problems, our cul de sac is so hidden people who have lived in the village for years still struggle to find it

Fooking scum of the earth
Really Feel for you had it done to a previous car of mine, a Saturday morning in a carpark with CCTV. They didn't get my Head unit the alarm must have put them off.
They smashed the window, dash had rips and marks like yours, police didn't even come out when I rang and asked about the cameras they said they would check them out. They didn't bother to ring me back so I rang them to be told there was nothing on them.
And nobody saw them in daylight on a Saturday morning?
Never heard any more  I was young at the time too so didn't claim on my insurance i just paid for a new drivers window myself, It would have needed a complete new dash which i couldn't afford.
Wound me up every time i saw the marks on the dash
-
Really feel for you mate. Been there, got the t-shirt and never got any justice....
At the end of the day they're not even scum.... and what goes around comes around
That repair bill sucks but don't let it put you off motoring with such a nice car otherwise they win
-
Word on the street is all the missing units are going abroad and being re-coded. I did look on eBay to see if any were for sale locally and the majority were for sale in Lithuania. Found this quite strange...do they crash more audis and vw's out there which end up getting broken up for spares??? I think not. Opinions and justifications are welcome but I would suggest a complete boycott from buying foreign rns510's because at the end of the day if you are retro fitting an rns and buy it from Lithuania you may save yourself a few £'s to start with but if my source is correct then you are only encouraging the thieving scumbags to steal more and more sat navs, and u never know it may just be yours that they steal next!
THOUGHT'S PLEASE.....

Me too,but it didn't stop the t wats travelling 35 miles from Wolverhampton to break into my house and steal the car in broad daylight

Not so sure about that... dont many of the unit get manufactured over in eastern europe?
-
To say every unit that gets stolen is sent to eastern Europe is abit far fetched, the vast majority of people who break into cars are crackheads or junkies, to say they have contacts in Europe to decode them is abit far fetched, most likely your unit got swapped for a rock or a wrap of ssome class A

Couldn't agree more with this, I doubt organised crime is to blame for this.

The Hunt for Gene () is correct, an organised crime team would have wanted the vehicle itself.
This is down to our home-based scum

Just read this post. Really sorry to hear this mate. It's the first time I've seen a OEM radio break in. Might have been done to order...

The amateur attempt at entry is also a giveaway.
The damage to the wing mirror housing and B pillar trim is where they have inserted a screw driver and then levered the glass to stress fracture it.
Professionals would have likely been using an automatic centre punch

I was talking to my work mate about this thread,he said his mate who works for a VW dealership had told him that they have had alot of mk6 golfs in for repair after they had been broken into by someone prizing the doors open by wedging a screwdriver into the top of the door and inserting their arms into the car.
