Hi all, thanks for all the info I've got from here, I'm new to the forum and have been a fond reader.
I would like the ask the question cos I've heard the polo gti is similar engine block, I was wondering if anyone knows what I'd have to do to gain the extra 20bhp it has on the mk4 golf 1.6 lol I was thinking polo GTI header (including cams and gears), inlet manifold, down-pipe and ecu. Could anyone clarify what things can and cannot work with the polo gti 6n swap over to golf mk4 1.6 16v AUS engine.
Thanks!!

Does anyone have any knowledge on this question? please help, I just want to basically know if i can use parts from polo gti on my AUS 1.6 16v block thanks for any help in advance

Even if it did fit it is a lot of work for a small gain :undecided:
-
Yes its a bit of work but that's how bleak and desperate driving a 1.6 100bhp car makes you :lipsrsealed: ok joking aside, I just want a tiny bit more power without having to change car mainly because the petrol prices and partly because I've spent too much on this car already to justify changing it. please help me somebody

pictures of your car?
i dont have a clue but im being nosy
-
Personally ide see it costing more to do and insure all the parts than buying a 1.8n/a
-
Personally not sure if you could do it, but where are you based as I have a complete head/cams/thottle body from a polo gti for sale if interested. That you could buy then look and see if parts are interchangeable.

Hi, Thanks for the replies, Im in north London. I will get some pics up soon, I kinda diy my front bumpers lower lip it has a lower lip not from a golf. I put it on as a temp solution until I decide if its worth my time to fit R32 kit on it. Its kinda grown on me me a bit so i would like to get some other peoples opinions on it as-well. I understand some peoples concerns with cost overall and getting different car etc but my reasons are because I have spent alot of money on replacing parts for my 10 year old golf, its really has had almost all consumables and wear and tear parts changed.. and so i don't want to get another golf and have to spend the time effort and money to do all again.
Second is that because the engine size will not change and not forced induction system is added it will not me ALOT more in insurance;
Thirdly I can get the work done fairly cheap.
I'm not after a great deal more power just enough to make the car a little easier to live with.
So still in the pursue to the answer "1.6 16v 6N POLO GTI ENGINE PARTS, CAN THEY BE USED ON 1.6 16v GOLF engine?" Many THANKS in advance =)
Brian pm me, how much you after for the parts you got?

We on about the 6n or 6n2?
As 6n used a lot of parts from the mk3 golf, 6n2s I'm not to clued up but at a guess I'd say they used some parts of the mk4, after that the polo and golfs pretty much used the same engines.
I did have a nice topic regarding 6n modding:
