As above, followed the youtube procedure from the stickies (piece of p*$$), a definite improvement, recommended to all. (who haven't just done it) :grin:

Oh...thanks for letting us know. You got a 5 speed? Is it the same procedure on a GTTDI 6 speedy you know?

Dont know off the top of my head, would presume so. Worth checking before fcukin around wit stuff though.

"missing" the occasional gear, and the logic that cables stretch over time. :grin:

6 speed is the same just "locking" the box is different

Surely, there is a method of doing this for every manual car on the planet?
Just a matter of finding the procedure for your car, and vw would be fairly similar, I would have thought?

been trying to find out how to do mine ,,, 98 1.8t agu early one, mine has no spring clips on the end of the cables its non adjustable it seems !!
Looks almost like a mk3 linkage from what ive seen online ,, Anyone know if they are adjustable ??

just been out and done this,what a difference and i didn't even think there was anything wrong with my gear changes,the 2 bits you have to push and turn clockwise were clogged with sh!t gave it a good spray with some carb cleaner freed it up nicely

yeah mine doesnt appear to have them spring clips neither :sad:
