Title: Forge Actuator Advice Please
Post by: D4VEY01 on 08 March 2012, 20:33
Im looking at getting a forge actuator as my vw original seems weak,
I`ve got an AGU with an R-Tech stage 1 remap,
Does the actuator come with a coloured spring if so which will i need ?
Also do i need any new gaskets for anything as i might fit it myself or is there a GOOD "how to"

Nice 1
Dave

Need both exh manifold gaskets  and actuator with yellow spring. I also fitted 3 bolts that bolt manifold to turbo.

If im honest it took me the best part of 3 days with everything going smoothly and too plan, So I would deffinitely set yourself atleast 2 days aside depending on your pace and incase the car turns stubborn  :lipsrsealed:

But parts wise I changed

*Oil banjo washers x2
*Coolant banjo washers x2
*Manifold-Turbo gasket
*engine oil
*engine oil filter
*coolant

undo and get all the pipes out the way
undo 3 bolts holding turbo to manifold
undo bolt holding turbo to block
turbo should drop slightly
find all 13 manifold nuts and undo (a few you won't be able to physically see)
remove manifold
undo oil feed banjo on turbo
undo 3 bolts holding actuator on
undo wastegate nuts
fit new actuator

reverse the above

so if you reverse the above you would remove the new actuator not very good this way cant see it working some how

You mine have to modify  the bracket , or wait for forge to swap the brackets over and be without the car , think there is three different brackets for ko3/ko3s,

Set yourself aside a day to do it mate. Make sure you've got all the bits you need too, the list I made in the maintenance section should include everything unless you want to drop the oil at the same time
