Anyone heard of / seen these?
http://www.autoartltd.co.uk/productdetail.php?route=search&type=&make_id=&model_id=&category_id=&product_id=VW-GLF6-5001&search=golf¤tpage=3
I have asked them for a pic and more info
-
I would imagine they'd be similar to the Dectane ones?
-
Maybe they are the same as these ones

Would I be banned from all forums globally for fitting such lights?!! Quite like them...or maybe I am just regretting not ticking the Xenon option box and my lust for 'fairy lights' will pass.....
-
I think you should just order a new car and be done with it
-
oh its ordered, same as yours Scott without the lights.....dam it, I am going to flog myself in the kitchen....back after 50 lashings

oohhh so it's all confirmed then and you can't change it? What if I could get you a price off someone for the whole xenon system retrofitted, all OEM? He does SO many retrofits it's unreal, and the stuff he's done you just wouldn't think possible, he mainly does Audis but he might be able to do VW? It won't be cheap but it will be 100% perfect?
-
How late in the day can you change or amend your order? I ordered mine 1st Decemember?
Thanks for the offer Soctt, could well be interested depending on the answer to the above!

Has the dealer told you a build week yet?
If the build week has been confirmed then you cannot change it. If it hasn't then you can. Build weeks usually get confirmed 2-3 weeks (I think) before it goes into production.
Depending on how fast the dealership placed your order, their allocation etc etc then you MIGHT be able to change it, if it's gone through fast then I imagine it will be built soon so you wouldn't.

Cheers Scott, much appreciated....its a company car :embarassed: and its been ordered through a fleet management company that do not know what day of the week it is, so I think "whats my build week? could send them into melt down... I will try and find out and may well be back to you re your offer..

Ahhhh well you can hope it's taken them a while to place the order and all the usual boll*cks and you might just be able to change it!
No problem, just let me know if you want his number. He comes very highly recommended on various forums. If you buy new parts then I imagine it will cost more than factory fit. If you can find used parts then you're on to a winner.

Personally I could never see what the fuss is over Xenons. However now that I have them on my ED35 I can see that the night time performance is fantastic. The fairy lights are not really neccessary as the headlights would do a better job during the day. Would I pay the high price for them that VW charge over the STD halogens, NO. In my last GTI's I just changed the H7 bulbs for Osram Nighbreakers and they worked really well and for £25 a real improvement over STD. If you want the look then its a case of just paying up, but those aftermarket ones look naff stick with OEM.
-
^^^^^^
What he just said 100%
-
Your right - stopped off at local VW dealers today, normal Halogens looks great, and I will swap out the bulbs as you suggest. I guess there is no replacement for the DRL bulbs yet? There I go again...

Guys, I have a 2010 GiT with the read LED's but didn't go for the Xenon's up front and am kicking myself for it. The wife has a new Polo with Xenon's and the difference is amazing, especially as this city boy now lives out in the sticks where there are many unlit A & B roads.
Kenny has retrofitted fron Xenon's with LED DRL's and I have found the same ones as he purchased from a company in (wait for it)......yes. China and they are for right hand drive.
I have tried to contact the company for a single purchase but have had no response, probably because I am only wanting to buy one set.
A group buy may change all this however.........?
Let me know if you are interested and I'll contact them for multiple sets

Can't fault these lights guys! Still problem free and look OEM and plug n play for halogen users. Two sellers on eBay just now, search item number 270915763720 and 160746339447

Thanks Kenneth, it was the first one which I have tried to contact. Maybe I should just 'buy it now' and drive up to the land of the Scots and ask you to fit (for as much as you can drink in return, of course)

That could end up being a very expensive trip for you!

The guys from Hong Kong has finally responded (the first of Kenny's ebay link). He says that they are built for left hand drive but are easily converted to RHD, which backs up what both Kenny and a VW specialist has also said and they would also pass legal requirements such as MOT's.
He has quoted $600 + $100 (shipping) for a set. At todays conversion rates to USD's thats approx £382.50 + £63.75 (shipping) plus the added cost of fitting (if you are as lame as I am )
Wish I had gone for the option when I ordered the GiT !!

Hi guys dont know if anybody has solved this problem I found these on ebay but am a bit skeptical http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HID-Xenon-H15-Replacement-Bulbs-4300K-VW-Golf-MK6-/320873027647?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ab585d83f#ht_2005wt_947

I appreciate that it would be very expensive but what money are we talking to retro fit genuine VW xenons with the washers and associated parts to work like they were on the car from new?
Has anyone successfully done this?

I have done this although I already had the winter pack so the washers were fitted.
Total cost ended up about £1200, so about the same as the factory fit option.
Follow the big thread HERE (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=165998.580) which includes my parts list.

I posted this a while ago, i imagine they'd look a bit naff but if your desperate to use the DRL's but hate the yellow...

The big thing is that is dependant on getting the parts are if you end up not getting them cheap then the parts cost near enough £1500. Then unless your skilled you would have to get someone to do it. I spoke to a few people and if you want to do the job properly with auto levelling and such i cant see it being done all in for less than £2000 - £3000

Set of uprated bulbs it is then as the first few thousand spent on the car is taking it to Stage 2
Thanks for info chaps.

+1, my MK6 had Halogens and went for Nightbreakers and made a big difference over std. Now I have Xenons on the ED35 I can see why you would want them however got to be desperate to want to spend £K's on upgrading just the lights. Better spent on making the car faster, stop and handle better IMO.

Totally agree

The good thing about retrofitting them myself is that when I go to trade the car in I will just return it to standard Halogens and sell off the complete kit, so will probably end up costing me very little
