Ive got a electronic boost controller and aquamist wired up to the battery but this would mean that they would stay on all the time even if the car is not running.
I was going to just put a 12v switch in the circucit so I could turn them off but is there any way to wire them so they switch on and off with the ignition?

Wire it to your headlight switch
-
I dont know much about electrics so can you expand on that?
So does that mean they will turn on when I turn the lights on or ignition on and how do you wire them to the lights?
Cheers

Im sure there ignitiOn wire on headlight swith.. Or u can wire up so only comes on when your lights are on.. This might help http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=220652.0 (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=220652.0)

Easy enough to sort, pull the light switch out and use a test lamp to find the switched live.
-
Cheers lads should be able to sort this now
-
if not i wire stuff like that into ciggy lighter as thats an ignition based circuit

I would be carefull with that, it does not like a lot of extra load.
-
true normally i just wire sumfin like a interior light in rear or summit to it

Under the steering wheel, there are two terminals, one yellow, one red, one is switched live, one is permanent, dont know which Is which.
For a decent connection, wire into there.

Ok nice one will have a look at the wkend if I can dig out a voltmeter.

good stuff, plus you also have an earth terminal down there, what you wiring in?
-
Its the aquamist water meth injection and the hks evc 6 electronic boost controller

think you will find red is a perminent live and the yellow is switched, but check first with meter first though.

Nice one mate you are a star

under your steering wheel theres a cushty little SW/L if u remove the cover o think its x75 or something close easy peasy thats easiest place.

You dont just wire things in like that. That is asking for a fire to happen. Find a circuit that is large enough to take the load and make sure it is fused. Don't wire them to the same point either.
If you have to ask how to do this sort of thing, it probably not wise doing it.
Twisting and taping wires is asking for trouble. You should be crimping or even better, soldering and heat shrinking connections.

Like what? Headlight switch or terminals under steering wheel?
Other way?

How else are you suppose to learn if you do not do things yourself? I understand it could cause a fire if you just wire it them in anywhere which is why im asking advice from anyone that has done this sort of thing before. I will be soldering and insulating all connections I just needed advice on where.

You learn by reading. You dont just tap into any old circuit, and you should always have a fuse holder in line for protection.
Learn to read vw current flow diagrams to find the right wires and circuits. If possible use a separate earth to prevent ground loops etc.
Modern Vw wiring is usually wrapped in loom tape and can be hard to trace wiring. That's where diagrams come in handy. If you need a specific diagram I have them.

lol time of the month i think haha
