Title: Meta Polishing the Exhaust
Post by: Mr Savage on 07 March 2012, 11:25
Hi! So I picked up a 3 year old Golf with one of those hidden downwards facing exhausts. It's clearly never been touched since the car was new & looks in quite a mess. Not that it matters since you can't see it unless you get down on the ground though.

I used autosol metal polish on my last cars exhaust & it worked amazing. Would you guys bother to polish an exhaust you can't see or is that just a stupid idea?

not necessarily... but it depends if I was happy that I had a dirty exhaust

if they are stainless then they're worth keeping in good nick

there is a recent thread about using 00 guage wire wool to cut through baked on exhaust dirt

autosmart tardis will also do a great job, and not potentially damage your paintwork

Standard oven cleaner also works.
