You have as much to go on as we do, but looking at the seller and the other items he/she sell's, I don't see why they wouldn't be. Probably having a clear out.

Genuine or not, they look like they have securing points (holes) for clips on the floor, which the car wont have. So how tailored are they?

A guy from a dealer selling "Genuine" MK2 golf floor mats with securing point holes in them on ebay for £30 odd.

Post by: logeyboy on 07 March 2012, 11:31
The securing point holes connect to the seat not the floor IIRC...

I'll have to check where mine are fixed.

I bet if you went to the dealers he's from they would probably charge the same, he's probably doing a sideline ebay thing to make a few quid.

10% ebay commission, 3% paypal - so probably just getting the price back to 'normal'.

But they do say 'rare' and 'G60' - I guess that is in case you want the heel pad thing for your passenger.

Good point...  If they're rare I best get myself a set just in case I ever end up with a mk2! These mats will be obsolete before you know it!

I paid £23 quid for a set from VW about a year ago.  They are genuine.

VW has more than 100 sets but I can't give away any links

Only problem with them is that they ware through quite quick but beat aftermarket ones!
Title: Re: Are these genuine??
Post by: scott-o on 07 March 2012, 14:21
I wont be using mine as primary ones. I've got new aftermarket ones in it that will go over the top

Back to the original question "Are these genuine?" They may well be original VW parts, but I'm pretty sure that carpet mats weren't available back when the cars were new. So if you are keeping with an authentic, original theme, then I would say no.

I'll have a set of original rubber mats if anyone has a set to sell tho' please.

I saw a "new set" on ebay sell for £158.00 in auction.... Mental... I'll stick to the plush carpet ones at that rate...

I had a set and didn't like them - my son has them now!!

Still got the original carpet mats that came with the car 23 years ago! Mind you, my car has lots of original bits you wouldn't expect to see...

Bought a set of these last year, they come with self tapping plastic screws which go through the holes & into the carpet... I like them, they're well made, much better than any aftermarket ones I've had.

My 10 sets have arrived at last - Best price I can offer is £25.00 which is about the same as the dealer RRP - That's collection only

Posted they would be £30.00.

TBH I'm making Feck all at these price's but I'm in a good mood!! They are costing me over £20.00 a set plus postage to me...

If anyone is interested drop me a PM.

So why did you bother buying so many up if you're not in it for profit, you've just made it harder for other people to go out and get them!

Made what harder - VW have over a 100 sets in stock according to Mr Blue....

Ever heard of offering a service?? you can buy from me and save yourself the hassle of having to go to the dealers and ordering them and then going back to pick 'em up.... @ over £6.00 a gallon... Do the maths!!

Yes all MK2's from what they say.

The holes and screws are to secure the Drivers mat in place, they screw into the carpet and sound deadening.

Is the part number 863 VAG 131 BLA, or is that another reference?

I was thinking of going into VW and asking for some, and if they cant help ordering them from X4MGS.

Thanks
