Title: retro fit stuff
Post by: gremlin848 on 06 March 2012, 22:35
Ok don't know if this is the right place for this but here goes. Has anyone fitted a rev camera in the rear badge ?was it hard and where did you get the kit? also wondering about the nearside mirrir dib thing in reverse? and maybe folding mirrors when parked? all I think are extras on a new car but can they be fitted on an older car?

I've fitted the reverse camera and folding mirrors. Got all the parts from someone on the other forum. He supplies kits for the reverse camera, and was stripping a car so got the mirrors. Both are ok to fit if you are happy with removing various parts of the trim.

The reverse camera is a complete badge assembly. As its designed for the mk6, you need to trim a bit of metal on the inside of the tailgate and remove a bracket from the wiper motor. Apart from that the badge just slots in, run the wiring loom to the stereo and a bit of coding (I think). The RCD/RNS needs to have the socket on the back for the camera to plug into.

To fit the folding mirrors you will need complete mirror assemblies and maybe door controllers depending to what is fitted to your car. You'll have to remove the door cards to fit the mirrors and then will need coding. You'll also need the mirror switch. I didn't have mirror dip in reverse before and still don't with these mirrors fitted.

Speak to SteveP. He builds the looms required and can supply and fit the camera.
