I have recently ordered my first GTI and am very excited. The dealers contacted me today to say there is a build week of week 15.
Silly question but does that mean week 15 of the year eg. April time? Or week 15 post order? I ordered the beginning of feb.
Has anybody else ordered the GTI branded mats for their MkVI?
Thanks

Welcome to the long wait. This link has a good diagram of the order process. I'm waiting for my GTD.

Doesnt it comes with mats...

Week 15 of the year
-
It does come with mats but they now show thicker pile branded ones on the web. They can be bought after from the parts department too the dealer said. Will stick with the included ones for now.
Thanks for the info

What spec did you go for?

I Chose:
5 door with leather
Carbon Grey
18" Monza's
RCD 510
And cruise control
Otherwise standard, but got 3 years servicing included
Really like the front xenons but could not stretch to those.

Cancel the extra's and order the edition 35??
-
I had that thought.
I have not paid for any extras so the edition 35 would be a few grand more.
-
I had the same dilemma. I ordered mine without xenons and then changed my mind as I do a lot of night driving. They are expensive for what they are....

Good luck with the motor when it finally arrives....

would recommend ACC also
and the xenons were a great option , amazing in the dark!
-
A number of people on here didn't spec xenons and lived to regret it. Yes they are expensive but they look the dogs dangles, and give brilliant light in the dark.
-
I was one of them, ended up retrofitting them as I had them on the MK5 and missed them as I drive a lot of country roads.
I will always tick that option again.

^+1 for xenons. One of the features I like best about my car. Now I've got them, wouldn't want to be without them.
-
I'm glad - makes me feel like I've made the right choice. Hopeful in a week or two, when my car finally arrives I'll be in a position to agree with you.... :undecided:
-
Its build week!
-
Cool
Hopefully its a bit quieter after the march rush but after build week it goes something like this:-
Then its 'wait to hear if it has been built week'. Then its 'wait for it to get to the port week'. Then its 'wait at the port week 1'. Then its 'wait at the port week 2'. Then its 'wait for it to be shipped to the dealer week'. Then its 'wait for dealer to pre and do the paper work'. Then 'nervous breakdown if I don’t get it right now' week. Then its 'big smiles all week'.
I'm still smiling now - best car, for me, ever, period...
-
Go for the xenons and never mind the acc....or bite the bullet and go for the ED35....

Oh I look forward to 'nervous breakdown' week and hope the big smiles week is not too far behind. Seems to be a lot of work goes into getting the car made then to the uk. I am still waiting for the dealer to confirm it is being built, guess i should give them a couple of days before I chase them.

You could use customer services as they seem to know more than the dealer. Also they are easier to ring for updates. Theyre on 0800 0833 920 and you need a commission number which you can obtain from your dealer.

Agreed! Xenons work really well down dark lanes. With a good set of wheels, the rear LEDs and the front LED with daytime running lights make the car look the business!

Just to add to Cliff's comments...yeah phone your dealership and ask for the comm number and if your worried about your dealer getting funny then phone them on his day off as anyone shud be able to give you your comm number and if they ask why you want it just say you would rather bother vw cust serv for updates than bother your dealer 24/7...
That's what I did anyways!!!
Good Luck!!

Getting excited now. The car is at the dealership this weekend and going to see it and sort out my trade in Tuesday. Hopefully have it by next weekend.
It's been a long three months since I ordered but seeing some of the waiting times others have to wait I feel very fortunate.
-
By the time you drive her off the forecourt next weekend the waiting will be a distant memory....look forward to the pics
-
Hope the weather stays like this for you, you'll be absolutely buzzing!!!!!

There is an ED35 in Battersea Lookers 30K and its yours
