Title: RNS510
Post by: knighttdi on 05 March 2012, 21:30
Sad day last Saturday getting rid of the Mk5 GTI and bought my mrs a 2.0TDI 140ps Jetta instead, cheaper to run and big boot for the kids buggy and crap, still got the r32 for fun tho, this question has probably been asked before its a 2008, has standard Rcd300,i am thinking of retro fitting a media in kit into armrest and upgrading to a RNS510 as i have the combo in company car and find it great, has anybody had battery drain issues from these radios as i have heard the radios do not shut down so the board net unit stays awake hence draining battery?? Anyone done this?

On the golfs its only an issue for early 2007 and earlier models (cars with can bus version k or earlier). I assume that would also be the case for jettas, so you should be fine, but maybe wait for confirmation from a jetta owner .

Yeh thought so as the Jetta is Mexican sh!te, i fitted a cruise stalk and had to code it as a Mk5 2008 Golf to get it to work so may bite the bullet and try to get a unit from a late 08-09 Mk5 Golf as i've heard the coding inside a Mk6 unit is different
Thanks for your help
